Irdeto appoints Doug Lowther as CEO
MUMBAI: Irdeto has appointed Doug Lowther as its new chief executive officer. He will take charge from 1 April.
Lowther will replace Graham Kill, who quit the organisation to pursue new opportunities based out of UK.
Prior to this role, Lowther was the CEO of International Datacasting Corporation (IDC). He has also been EVP of Irdeto’s digital TV business and had been with the company for over nine years.
Kill stated, “Doug Lowther is an accomplished and respected executive in the Digital TV industry, and one that Irdeto’s employees, customers and partners know well and trust. With security at its core, Irdeto’s long-lasting and trusted relationships with customers and partners will further develop leveraging Doug’s previous experience. I am confident that under his leadership, Irdeto will continue its strong growth trajectory. Together with the wonderful people on the team, we increased revenue ten-fold through product and international expansion through all the economic cycles during that time.”
With extensive experience in digital television, IP-based services and security products, Lowther will strengthen Irdeto’s position in providing solutions for pay TV operators, over-the-top service providers and content owners.
Lowther said, “It is an honour for me to return to Irdeto at a time when the company holds a strong market position and is exploring many exciting areas of expansion. I thank Graham for his leadership and mentorship over the years. I look forward to continuing Irdeto’s proud tradition of enabling operators and content owners to grow revenues through innovative solutions that deliver the world’s best content to any screen.”
At IDC, Lowther led the restructuring of the business and renewed the company’s business strategy, product portfolio and leadership team. During his previous service with Irdeto, Lowther drove the creation of a product portfolio that achieved substantial revenue growth and subsequently led Irdeto’s digital TV business as well as its global sales, marketing and corporate development teams.
Lowther has also worked in executive roles with Nortel Networks, where he was VP and GM of Wireless Applications and the VP of Strategic Marketing. He has lived and worked in Canada, France, Singapore, Switzerland, the Netherlands and China.
Additionally, Irdeto recently appointed Andrew Bunten as the chief financial officer. Prior to joining Irdeto, Andy was the CFO for Hewlett-Packard’s cloud business, shepherding the company’s strategic investment from the start-up phase to early maturity.
His role will be relevant for Irdeto as it continues its expansion of various managed services embracing cloud infrastructures.
