iQIYI picks Irdeto technology for premium OTT
MUMBAI: iQIYI, the leading video service provider in China, has selected Irdeto Rights for ChinaDRM to protect premium content delivery on its popular OTT streaming platform.
As part of the Irdeto 360 Security suite, iQIYI will also deploy Irdeto TraceMark™ forensic watermarking to detect and fight against redistribution piracy.
As of June 2016, there were over 20 million members subscribing to iQIYI’s paid subscription service. Irdeto’s security will ensure that iQIYI can deliver even more high quality entertainment to its audience.
Irdeto Rights for ChinaDRM is the first security solution to be recognized and certified by The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China (SAPPRFT) and is fully compliant with the standards set by Hollywood studios for premium UHD and early release content.
China is emerging as one of the largest markets in the world for OTT video demand and new offerings. The latest statistics show that as many as 470 million devices used the iQIYI app during the month of November 2016, making it the most-used video streaming app in the China market and a go-to for OTT entertainment.
