Deutsche Telekom provides LiveStream Perform to Abu Dhabi Media

MUMBAI: Business Development and Innovation (BDI), an integral part of Deutsche Telekom’s International Wholesale Business Unit, has announced that Abu Dhabi Media, a multi-platform media and entertainment organisation in the Middle East, is a new customer for BDI’s LiveStream Perform, powered by Octoshape.

Abu Dhabi Media selected DT BDI’s cloud-based video streaming solution for the live streaming and delivery of six television channels to connect multiple devices for its global customer base.

Enabled for worldwide online playback from admedia.ae, the sports, news, and drama-based content will now be available on multiple screens: PC, mobile devices, and Abu Dhabi Media applications.

Abu Dhabi Media will leverage LiveStream Perform’s acceleration technologies for both live and on-demand streaming of content from the channels AD Sport 1 HD, AD Sport 2 HD, Ad Sport Extra HD, AD Al Oula HD, AD Al Emarat HD and AD Drama SD. LiveStream Perform delivers a consistent, high-quality video playback across any device for a differentiated service targeted at existing and new subscribers.

Digital Media director Ali Al Shaiba said, “In order to reach top customer satisfaction, we work with our Tier 1 content providers to position their content in the best way possible for our subscriber base. After an extensive review wherein we assessed every technology available, we concluded that only the LiveStream Perform solution from Deutsche Telekom BDI was able to consistently meet all of the requirements we had for quality, user-interface and predictable flat-rate pricing models.”

LiveStream Perform’s solution set includes IP contribution and distribution services to multiscreen devices coupled with satellite downlink for channel acquisition, geoblocking for rights management control and token and domain authentication services to secure the rich media and proprietary content. In addition, the channels will be encoded for adaptive bit rate and multidevice support and content will be recorded for VOD.

VP business development and innovation Karim El-Khazen said, “We are proud to offer our LiveStream Perform to this fast growing regional media and entertainment player. Our superior solution will accompany Abu Dhabi Media and its huge customer base into the next phase of video distribution over the Internet.”

LiveStream Perform provides a platform that enables the evolution of Broadcast TV into global, cloud-based broadband TV. The patented stream acceleration system combined with the suite of multicast technologies offers TV quality and a cost-effective commercial model for operators, OTT/IPTV service providers, and premium content owners, enabling them to reach millions of device-connected subscribers worldwide.
