ALT Balaji rolls out ‘universal app’ for Windows 10 users
MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms’ OTT platform ALT Balaji has announced the rollout of its ‘universal application’ for 400 million global Windows 10 users.
The app is available in the Windows 10 app store and seamlessly works across PCs, laptops, smartphones and surface tablets running Window 10 OS.
The app will soon be rolled out for other popular Microsoft devices and platforms like Xbox, Surface Hub and other devices through the Universal Windows Platform (UWP)
Speaking about the new rollout, ALT Digital Media Entertainment COO Sunil Nair said, “By rolling out the Windows 10 app, we have shown our commitment to our audience by making it easy for them to experience ALT Balaji on laptops as well as their regular smartphones. Features like multi-device continuous play will make it easy for users to watch our shows on their mobile phone while on the move and switch to their Windows 10 laptop or PC to continue enjoying the shows seamlessly.”
With this app, the 400 million global users of Windows 10 will be able to access ALT Balaji’s original, exclusive and tailor-made shows on a variety of Windows devices. The video platform supports Microsoft Smooth Streaming and has Playready for Digital Rights Management. Using UWP allows multiple device specifications through a single app and makes it easy to upgrade. Customers can use up to five devices simultaneously with one subscription, which makes it convenient for family viewing.

All over the world people are more engaged when they consume content on larger screens with immersive video and audio experience. Microsoft is committed to providing our users with a great viewing platform and our collaboration with ALT Balaji will ensure that they get seamless access to content anywhere, at any time.”
ALT Balaji, which was launched on 16 April with five original shows, claims to offer 250 hours of original content to its subscribers in India and abroad. The platform will add new shows every fortnight for its viewers to binge-watch.
