Asia’s premium video on demand (VoD) service Hooq has added the recently released Hollywood superhero film Spider-Man: Homecoming to its list of blockbusters and Hollywood hits under its TVOD section.
Two years after launching in the country video on demand service, Hooq has fine-tuned its strategy. For one it is only focusing on Hollywood content through movies including the latest ones like ‘Wonder Woman’ and also TV shows. It will not have local content nor will it create any original content as it feels that the space is hyper competitive.
VoD service Hooq has appointed FoxyMoron and Motivator (GroupM company) as its creative and digital agencies respectively.
HOOQ has slashed its introductory price for the Indian market to Rs 89. The yearly subscription is available at Rs 450 through credit/debit, net banking and cash card only.
Vodafone Play subscribers will have access to unlimited streaming of over thousands of hours of entertainment content from HOOQ along with exclusive series.
The Hooq–ACT Fibernet partnership is being piloted first in Hyderabad; it will go to other ACT markets such as Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi.
HOOQ has added new titles to its content catalogue for its Indian subscribers. The new titles include popular American TV shows like ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S’, ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘Two and a Half Men’ and ‘Community’.
HOOQ will be leveraging Manish Kapoor’s experience to drive the growth of the brand as the largest OTT service in the region.
Hooq has appointed former Dish TV India COO Salil Kapoor as the managing director of its India operations.
