Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has pipped biggies Star Plus and Colors to emerge as the number 1 channel in urban HSM in week 40 of BARC ratings for period ending 6 October.
Fiction shows ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and ‘Kundali Bhagya’ helped Zee TV to grab the top spot in urban HSM. Sony’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ continued to rule the top 5 shows in urban HSM.
Colors has increased ad rates for ‘Bigg Boss’. It has already roped in three main sponsors and a few associate sponsors for the 11th season of the reality show.
Colors is all set to air the 11th season of its tent-pole property ‘Bigg Boss’ from 2 Oct, Monday to Friday, at 10.30 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday, at 9 pm. The channel will host the grand opening of the show on 1 Oct at 9 pm.
Following the launch of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati S9’, Sony has been witnessing an upward spike in its weekly impressions in urban HSM. In Week 37, the channel climbed to the second spot with 39.60 crore impressions.
‘Aunty Boli Lagao Boli’, developed and conceptualised by Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty’s licensing and entertainment company, will be a one-hour show. It will mark the entry of Viaan Industries into television content production.
Star India’s strategy of rebranding Life OK as Star Bharat and distributing it on DD Freedish is beginning to pay off. After a good start in its launch week, Star Bharat has climbed to the second spot in the Hindi GEC hierarchy in two BARC-defined markets.
Star Bharat’s good beginning signifies the growing importance of Freedish as a distribution platform. Unlike its predecessor Life OK, Star Bharat made itself available on DD’s subscription-free DTH platform. In the TV ratings game, rural has also become an important element.
