SIMC’s FEST-O-COMM, Paving a Path between Parallels
MUMBAI: Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune is set to host its annual flagship event, Zomato presents Fest-O-Comm 2016. The event is sponsored by Zomato and is uniquely themed, “Where Parallels Collide.” It promises to be an academic, cultural, and sports extravaganza. The two day celebration will commence on the 18th February 2017.
Fest-O-Comm, 2017 is set to be blown away by Sparsh, a Mumbai based Hindi alternative rock band, which believes in using creativity, experience and, the multi-talented approach to reach and inspire their listeners. The six year old band even won Mood Indigo Mantra 2011, Asia’s biggest college rock fest. We also have Gyan Adab Players, a new theatre company that aims to bring a breath of fresh air to Pune’s theatre scene by setting innovative trends in experiential and formal proscenium drama.
Every year Fest-O-Comm brings in students from over 100 colleges nationwide and has witnessed a footfall of over 4000 students in the past, from popular B-schools and media colleges across the country. In its previous editions, Fest-O-Comm has been graced by the presence of media and entertainment industry stalwarts such as Madhur Bhandarkar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Manoj Bajpayee, Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, and Karan Oberoi, who have added sparkle to the event.
This year, students will get an opportunity to display their creative skills in events such as, Flamboyante for the fashionistas, Box Cricket for the sports enthusiasts and Tamasha for the actors among us. Laasya, an exhilarating dance competition and Cut to 24, a short-film making competition, are the much-anticipated highlights of the fest. Amazing Race is set to challenge the contestants’ mind and body while JAM will test their ability to orate and showcase the power of words. The Case Study competition is where the technical abilities and fundamentals of students will be put to the test and encourage students to think out-of-the-box and yet with technical backing, much like the theme of our fest
