Sensation India 2016 debut sets the record in Hyderbad with estimated attendance of about 15,000 attendees!
MUMBAI: The premiere edition of Sensation in India has set a record in Hyderabad, India with estimated count at about 15,000 attendees, all dressed in white. It was a night of first, since this edition was also the first outdoor edition to take place in India. The grand debut showcase in the city of Hyderabad saw 16 years of magical moments fusing together at Gachibowli Stadium. A spectacular lineup consisting of Mr.White, Lost Frequencies, Axwell, Afrojack and Laidback Luke, played a roster of house, trance and electro music on the main stage.
The whole production of Sensation White blew the blinding white clad crowd away: right from the eye-popping light-and-pyrotechnics show to the 360 degree rotating DJ booth and gallery-worthy installations, making the night absolutely spectacular. Sensation India transported all pulsating EDM heads onto a holistic journey and story-like experience built in unity through a visual mecca and audio thrill that had something for both old school veterans and newer fans to rally behind.
The first DJ up was Mr. White. With the exception of his glasses, Mr. White was painted from top to bottom in white as he is for every Sensation event around the world. To get the crowd revved up. Mr. White played a smooth selection of big room techno and tech house sounds. Mr. White also brought the crowd into his world with plenty of crowd interaction and energy. It was in this moment that the first of many effects during the whole Sensation experience were unveiled. The production slowly made itself felt with greater impact as the night went on. Mr. White’s set was enhanced by the lighting that switched from purple, to red, blue, green, and white
As the crowd properly warmed up, it was Lost Frequencies’s turn to take over. This Belgian DJ used the opportunity to bring a more relaxt vibe to the stadium as he added some deep house to the mix. He played “ Are you with me” and ‘’Reality” amongst many more. The next act to appear was Axwell. This was his first massive production show in India and he certainly took full advantage of the moment, as his set was one of the musical highlights of the night. “Don’t you worry child”, “On my way” and “ Sun is shining’’ were few of the great hits he got the crowd dancing to. The stage production was also taken to the next level as giant LED balls that changed color were tossed into the crowd. By the end of the set the crowd had found its groove and was ready, with arms and minds wide open, for the one and only Afrojack.
Next up was Dutch superstar Afrojack, and the whole place went nuts and the crush of people vying for dance space. A few songs into his set, Afrojack played crowd favorites like “Turn up the Speakers”, “Hey ft. Fais”, “Rock the House ” . The energy was at an all time high at this point; with glow sticks and lasers and writhing bodies taking centrestage amidst an emotionally charged set. Afrojack always seems to be telling his fans some sort of story with his live sets.
Laidback Luke closed the evening with a banging set filled with plenty of peak time tracks including “Boneless”, “Leave The World Behind”, “Let it Go” had the crowd chanting in unison. When he played “Babydoll main sone di” and “Chittiya Kalaayian” , famous Bollywood tracks as his salute to playing in India, the crowd went wild. As a final farewell, Laidback Luke asked the fans whether they would return to see Sensation India if they came back the same time next year. As you might have predicted, there was a massive positive response from the crowd.
Speaking on Budweiser’s association with Sensation, Kartikeya Sharma, Marketing Director, India South East Asia, AB InBev said “Music is a big passion point for young Indians. Within music, electronic music is the most popular new space that young millennials want to explore. Budweiser has been at the heart of wanting to shape this. Over the last three years, we’ve helped bring some of the biggest acts in electronic music to India and Sensation was the obvious next level – taking the experience of a traditional, single artist format a notch up with multiple artists offering a more holistic, sensorial journey. We wanted to give our fans in India a taste of the next big thing in electronic music and Sensation was the obvious choice.”
Vijay Amritraj, Cofounder and Managing Partner, Voila Events LLP, said, “It’s been a great matter of pride for us for bringing Sensation, one of the biggest dance music acts, to India at Hyderabad. The crowd turnout on the day of the event proves that Hyderabad is really receptive to such events and is all set to show the world how we party. Sensation has been a great experience and a new leaf in our book of Dance music work.”
Over two million people in more than thirty countries have come together to unite in white at the world’s most iconic venues. Born in Amsterdam and traveling across the globe, the world phenomenon has created its own religion. If you didn’t get the chance to attend this amazing event, make sure to mark your calendars as fans might get to experience the same kind of magic the same time next year.
