Sennheiser launches the first edition of Sennheiser Top 50 in partnership with Amazon.in

New Delhi / Bangalore: The 70-year old German audio master, Sennheiser, in yet another pursuit of perfect sound, is bringing a one of a kind musical venture to the music lovers of India, in partnership with Amazon.in. Sennheiser Top 50 is India’s first ever digital contest where the newbees and semi-professional bands will come together from across the country to battle it out. Opening May 1, 2015, the contest will narrow its entries down to 50 through a series of selection routines. And the 50 best bands will be judged by a legendary panel consisting Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Salim-Sulaiman, all of whom also happen to be active Sennheiser endorsers.

This innovative talent hunt presents all young bands with dreamy-eyed musicians the opportunity to rock the world with their talent. The contest is purely digital and open all across India. All that the participant needs is an internet connection.

Mr. Vipin Pungalia, Director, Sennheiser Professional Segment, commented on the unique imitative saying, “The Sennheiser Top 50 is aimed at building consumer affinity and bringing music closer to the music aficionados. Targeting the emerging and semi-professional musicians who are truly passionate about music, the campaign will facilitate musicians to share their dream of performing on stage with the best of microphones from Sennheiser.”

Renowned composer and singer trio, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, role model for music aspirants, said, “Sennheiser has a 70-year old legacy for powering the performances of the best musicians across the world. True to this legacy of championing music and musicians, Sennheiser has launched the Sennheiser Top 50 music talent hunt which will give every Indian an opportunity to try and reach the pinnacle of musical genius. Music is a powerful medium that can come from the most unexpected places. This one of its kind initiative by Sennheiser opens new doors to a diverse mix of music talent across India. By using digital media to leverage the talent in the country, the company has set a new benchmark for talent hunts.”

The campaign will kickstart with the entrants uploading a track (a cover or original composition). The shortlisted entries will invite, and the top 100 most voted bands will move to the next round. These top 100 bands will then have to submit their music videos and answer a detailed questionnaire about their band. The top 50 will be judged and ranked by Sennheiser ambassadors, Shankar-Ehsan-Loy and Salim-Sulaiman.

“Music knows no boundaries and the Musical Instruments store on Amazon.in stands a true example of this. Since the launch of the store in November last year, we have been thrilled by the response to the store from music enthusiasts and professionals from every nook & corner of the country. Customers are ordering unique selection like Ektaras with the same enthusiasm as they are ordering popular products like guitars and keyboards from small towns like Rajahmundry Rural in Andhra Pradesh, Bokaro & Hazaribagh in Jharkhand to metro cities. We are so proud to associate with Sennheiser and be part of the entire music ecosystem,” says Samir Kumar, Director Category Management, Amazon India.

The winning band will not only be awarded with the latest evolution wireless D1 set up and Sennheiser headphones for the entire team, but also get an envious endorser deal for two years by Sennheiser, recording sessions at Flying Carpet Productions in Mumbai with Ashish Manchanda and a chance to meet Sennheiser artists Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Salim Sulaiman along with Gift Cards from Amazon.in. All the top 50 will be awarded trophies and discount coupons from Sennheiser and Amazon.in.

The competition is open for any band across India to upload their music after registering on www.sennheiser-top50.com
