NDTV & Fortis Healthcare sets ‘GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TM’ title in partnership with SRL Diagnostics
MUMBAI: NDTV & Fortis Healthcare in partnership with SRL Diagnostics, organized the largest ever initiative to test blood glucose levels in the Delhi NCR region and Mumbai to help diagnose and prevent diabetes. The awareness campaign, as part of the NDTV Fortis Health4U campaign launched in Mumbai in September this year, generated an overwhelming response leading to a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title being set.
The free blood glucose level tests were conducted at all Fortis Facilities and select SRL Labs in the NCR region covering Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad as well as in Mumbai on World Diabetes Day. A total of 10,508 citizens from various walks of life and of different age groups ranging from 18 years to senior citizens availed the benefit of this initiative on World Diabetes Day. By conducting 10,508 blood glucose level tests across multiple locations in one single day, NDTV & Fortis Healthcare in partnership with SRL Diagnostics set an extraordinary ‘GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS’ feat for the Most Blood Glucose Level tests done in 8 hours (multiple venues).
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Chandra, Group CEO, NDTV Group, said, “We are proud to have been a part of this initiative. Millions suffer from diabetes every year and while we are happy that we have set a new ‘Guinness World Records’ title, we are also overwhelmed by the turnout and that we could help so many people.”
Dr. Anoop Misra, Chairman, Fortis C-DOC Hospital for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases and Endocrinology, said, “Our goal is to make India Diabetes free. It is a matter of concern that young people in the age group of 20-40 years are increasingly suffering from Diabetes. As leaders in healthcare, specifically diabetes, it is important for us to spread awareness regarding the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, while engaging consumers and stakeholders to take proactive steps towards early detection and treatment.”
Mr. Sanjeev Vashishta, CEO SRL Diagnostics, India said, “This benchmark for clinical excellence further encourages us to stay committed to delivering high quality services to our patients. In a nationwide endeavor to raise health awareness and to highlight the importance of regular health check-ups, we will continue to provide accurate and precise diagnostic, prognostic and predictive testing services in a timely manner through our state-of-the-art health facilities.”
Richard Stenning, Official Adjudicator, Guinness World Records – “I’m delighted to announce Fortis Healthcare, NDTV and SRL Diagnostics have achieved a new Guinness World Records title for Most Blood Glucose Level tests. This is a fantastic achievement; the record will go in the history books and remain there for years to come.”
Keeping ‘Prevention is better than cure’ in mind, the focus of this campaign, in its second phase, is to spread awareness about the rate at which Diabetes is increasing in India and the importance of getting blood sugar levels checked regularly to contain these rapidly increasing statistics.
The initiative aims to provide healthcare facilities to those who are unable to afford such medical tests despite some medical tests costing as low as Rs.100 and aims to educate people on some of the precautionary and timely measures that can be taken for better health.
