Iyobinte Pusthakam Launches Its Music at the First Dolby Atmos Screen in Cochin

MUMBAI: Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) today announced the opening of the first Dolby Atmos screen at Pan Cinemas in Cochin, Kerela. The announcement was made at the occasion of the music launch of the movie, Iyobinte Pusthakam. The company also announced that Iyobinte Pusthakam will be mixed and released in Dolby Atmos®. Filmmakers use Dolby Atmos to place and move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre, including overhead, to make film audiences feel as if they are inside the movie and not merely watching it.

Iyobinte Pusthakam is directed and produced by Amal Neerad. The film features Fahadh Faasil in the leading role and has been mixed at G Studio by Tapas Nayak.

On the occasion of the audio launch, Mr. Amal Neerad, Director of Iyobnite Pusthakam shared his excitement and said, “The movie industry is bound by the need to evolve as quickly as the increasing expectations of the viewers. Hence, adapting to new technologies like Dolby Atmos seemed inevitable to us. Dolby Atmos is the most powerful sound technology we have ever used. It can place and move sounds anywhere around and above the audiences, creating a soundfield so realistic that film audiences will feel as if they are in the middle of the movie action. We believe this helps us present our movie to the viewers as realistically as possible.”

According to Mr. Aby Tom Nicholson, Director, Pan Cinemas, “Dolby Atmos is a step forward towards providing state-of-the-art facilities to our patrons. We believe Dolby’s avant-garde innovation for the cinema industry will see mass acceptance and appreciation in the coming time. This announcement marks an important milestone for us as we aim to offer the most innovative and advanced cinema technologies to our patrons, ensuring a holistic entertainment experience.”

“Iyobinte Pusthakam is a period thriller, and Dolby Atmos has helped create a virtual reality of sound by precisely placing and moving sounds to make audiences feel as if they, too, are in the middle of the onscreen excitement,” said Mr. Ashim Mathur, Marketing Head, Dolby Laboratories India. “With Dolby Atmos, the audiences are no longer watching a movie but experiencing it. We are confident that moviegoers will go back repeatedly to Pan Cinemas for the extraordinary experience that Dolby Atmos delivers. We hope to further expand the experience to the audiences across the length and breadth of the country.”
