Amit Kumar Releases New Album Exclusively on Saavn Web and Mobile, Performs for Live@Saavn
New Delhi: Saavn, India’s leading music streaming service, is today announcing the exclusive release of Baba Mere, a new album by Amit Kumar. As fans around the world celebrate the 86th birthday of Kumar’s father, the late Kishore Kumar, Saavn is also announcing the second edition of its live in-office music series, Live@Saavn, which features Amit Kumar.
The new Baba Mere album was produced by Kumar’s brand new label, Kumar Brothers Music (KBM). The album was composed by Kumar and written by Leena Chandavarkar Ganguly, with music arrangement by Ramesh Iyar, Gaurav Vasvani, and Sumeet Kumar. Kumar is also introducing his daughter, Muktika Ganguly, in this album.
“Kishore Kumar was among the greatest musicians of all time, and his legacy lives on through his son, Amit Kumar. We are honored that Mr. Kumar has chosen Saavn to help commemorate his father through the release of his new album exclusively on our service, as well as through a unique live performance,” Priya Rajesh, VP, Marketing for Saavn, said. “We introduced Live@Saavn in order to create a true artist home at Saavn and to celebrate some of the most talented musicians in the world. Released to honor the birthday of a true legend, our second edition of the series is particularly special.”
Kumar stopped by the Saavn office in July to perform a one-of-a-kind set that fans can watch on Saavn’s YouTube channel tomorrow. The episode features Kumar’s first-ever live performance of “Baba Mere” off the new album of the same name, as well as fan favorites, like “Yaad Aa Rahi Hai,” “Bade Ache Lagte Hai,” and a number of Kishore Kumar classics, like “Mere Mehboob,” “Yeh Shaam Mastani,” “Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna,” and “Zindagi Ka Safar.”
“As we celebrate my father and the release of my new album, this is a very momentous week for all of us at Kumar Brothers Music. As India’s leading music streaming service, Saavn is the perfect platform on which to introduce our new music, while honoring the classics. It was a joy to perform ‘Baba Mere’ for the first time ever at Saavn’s office, and we are thrilled to have Saavn’s support as an exclusive streaming partner,” Amit Kumar said.
In collaboration with Instinct Media, the full Baba Mere album can now be streamed on Saavn here.

Launched in May 2015, Live@Saavn is a series of live acoustic shows and interviews with popular international and Indian artists. The exclusive artist performances and interviews are shot at Saavn’s Mumbai HQ. The first in the series featured LA-based indie-rock band, Young the Giant.
