92.7 BIG FM sets the tone for upcoming elections with ‘Mera Jawab, Mera Vote’ campaign
Mumbai: The year 2013 – 2014 has inevitably been one of the most dramatic years in the history of Indian politics. While the nation debates on ‘Who should lead ‘Young’ India?’ and ‘Who would take India through the Pathway of Progress’, 92.7 BIG FM, Mumbai’s No.1 Radio Station has moved a step forward to do their bit for the citizens of Mumbai with their ‘Mera Jawab, Mera Vote’ campaign this election year!
With each city doing its own bit to drive people to go and vote, the Mumbai station of 92.7 BIG FM created their very own manifesto together with their listeners! The station went all out to gather what Mumbaikars expect from their electoral candidates this time around; and not just caller suggestions and online feedback, the RJs took to the streets to meet chaiwallas, dabbawallas, street vendors and visited restaurants and malls with pamphlets to understand their demands from the next government. The 360 degree campaign also saw multiple conversations by listeners and RJs for the cause on the radio station’s Twitter and Facebook pages and the entire exercise has been initiated to encourage people to go and vote.
Through the week starting 14th April, 92.7 BIG FM will talk to listeners on various topics like what is an MP supposed to do, civic issues of Mumbai and how to solve them, infrastructural issues in Mumbai, women safety and Governance & red tapism in government sector. Taking this forward, the radio station has associated with an authentic democratic body – ASKHOW. Asking listeners and concerned parties ‘How to bring about change’ rather than ‘What change to bring about’, 92.7 BIG FM will have experts engage in objective discussions about election trends, voters’ behavioural patterns, parliament statistics, party manifestos and all things ‘election’ – to enable voters to make the best decision which would be a just decision for the country!
Commenting on this campaign, the company said “With 81 crore eligible voters in the country out of which 15 crore are first time voters, it is our responsibility as the largest radio network of the country as it is others’ to step up and take ownership of our problems. Mera Jawab, Mera Vote campaign looks to educate, enthuse and encourage our listeners to exercise their biggest right – the right to vote. The response received so far has been phenomenal and we hope to convert these interactions to votes that will secure a better future.”
This is a part of the national three-phase campaign was initiated as early as February 2014 and saw 92.7 BIG FM radio jockeys encouraging talks on various topics related to social and economic issues that the country is grappling. The jockeys also spoke about the actions that have been undertaken by the government and the ones that the leaders and the state of law and order have misused. Through this phase, the radio station laid down the foundation for informed discussions and thus making decisions easy for the listeners. The RJs also gave out valuable statistics regarding voting patterns of the public that created a sense of responsibility amongst citizens. Members of National and State Election Commissions were also in the studios to take on queries from listeners regarding various processes in registration and voting this time around. So much for a nation-wide movement but this is not all, not yet to say the least!
With the biggest celebration of democracy underway, it is imperative that the nation unites in placing power in trustworthy hands this election. Whatever your motivation may be – ‘Change’, ‘A Brighter Future’, ‘End of Corruption’, ‘Stronger Economy’; the nation’s most loved radio channel – 92.7 BIG FM believes that the best answer to all your problems with the leaders of our country is to make your VOTE count!
