T-Series to create original web series for its YouTube channel
MUMBAI: Movie and music content company T-Series is set to take a plunge into digital content production. The company, which has made its mark in music acquisition and film production, will be producing web-series and short films for its official YouTube channel T-Series.
“We are working on creating digital content like web series and short films. This content will release on our YouTube channel,” T-Series CMD Bhushan Kumar told TelevisionPost.com.
Apart from creating digital content, the company plans to release around 9 to 10 films in 2018.
Among the films lined-up for release are Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raid, Kadarnath, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Saina and 2 Untitled projects amongst others.
This year, T-Series released successful films like Hindi Medium and Badshaho besides content driven films such as Simran, Bhoomi, and Chef.
The company will soon release Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu on 17 November, followed by Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor starrer 102 Not Out on 1 December.
“Next year will be a milestone year for us at T-Series where we are either solo producers or in a joint production. The team has grown. Industry friends trust us to join as joint producers and invest in our belief. In 2018, we are ready to release around 9 to 10 films which are content driven, with talented artists, successful producers and visionary directors. We have gotten better at producing and learning from our mistakes and trying to the right,” said Kumar.
T-Series will release the comedy-drama Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety on 12 January 2018. The film directed by Luv Ranjan will feature trio Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is a quirky new age love triangle set in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
In February 2018, the production house will release yet another quirky comedy Raita, starring Irrfan Khan and Kriti Kulhari. Directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by T-Series along with RDP Motion Pictures, the film will also feature Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh, Gajraj Rao and Pradhyuman Singh in the key roles.
Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Raid will release on 16 March 2018. Directed by Raj Kumar Santoshi, the story is based on a real incident that happened in Uttar Pradesh in the 80s.
Shahid Kapoor starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Shree Narayan Singh will release on 31 August 2018. The film is based on the issue of electricity bills.
The company is also working on an untitled film starring Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan and is directed by Honey Trehan. The thriller film is set for a release on 2 Oct 2018.
Another untitled film starring Ajay Devgn will release on 19 October 2018. The family entertainer is directed by Akiv Ali and will also star Tabu.
T-Series’ most talked about romantic film Kedarnath whose tagline says ‘love is a pilgrimage’ will be released on 21 December 2018. The romantic film directed by Abhishek Kapoor, stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan. T-series is co-producing the film along with KriArj Entertainment, Guy in the Sky Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures.
The company is also working on a biographical film on Saina Nehwal. The film titled Saina is directed by Amole Gupte and feature Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role.
Apart film music acquisition, T-Series is also concentrating on creating digital music content. After creating digital music content like the acoustic and instrumental version of its song tracks, the music label is working on T-Series Mixtape, which will be released next year. It is also working on creating T-Series Punjabi Mixtape as it has a huge bank of Punjabi tracks.
