Shemaroo inks licensing deal with Viu
MUMBAI: Entertainment content company Shemaroo Entertainment has inked a content licensing deal with Vuclip’s premium OTT video-on-demand (VOD) service Viu.
This deal will give Viu subscribers access to Shemaroo’s catalogue of contemporary full-length Hindi movies like ‘Sarkar’, ‘Black’, ‘Ishqiya’, ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘Bheja Fry 2’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’.
Subscribers can access the content from the official website www.viu.com or by downloading Viu’s Android and iOS apps.
Shemaroo Entertainment director Jai Maroo stated, “OTT services are growing exponentially in India. Given the dynamics of the OTT space, content has become the key driver for subscriber acquisition and growth. We are pleased to join hands with Vuclip’s premium OTT video-on-demand service Viu in our ongoing efforts to reach out to the digital consumer.”
Speaking about the association, Vuclip India country head Vishal Maheshwari stated, “Our subscribers see great value in content that is high in quality and freshness. Our content partnership with Shemaroo plays a part in delivering this value to our highly engaged viewers.”
Shemaroo has also partnered Videocon d2h and digital cable TV and broadband service provider Hathway Cable for premium VAS services. With Videocon d2h, Shemaroo, along with PTC Networks, launched an ad-free Punjabi value-added service called ‘d2h Mauja.’ Shemaroo offered Hathway subscribers ad-free premium services such as Miniplex, Comedywalas, Om Shakti, Ibaadat, Lamhe Movies and Yippee.
