Rajesh Sethi replaces Wadhwa as Siti Networks CEO

MUMBAI: After turning around Ten Sports and spearheading the sale of the sports network to Sony, Rajesh Sethi has got a new assignment at Essel Group. The former CEO of Ten Sports will now replace VD Wadhwa as the new head of Siti Networks Ltd.

Sethi has been designated as the executive director and CEO of Essel Group-owned MSO Siti Networks.

Over the next couple of months, Wadhwa will be helping Sethi with the smooth transition of responsibility.

Incidentally, Siti board had on 27 May approved the re-appointment of Wadhwa as ED of the company for a period of three years from 12 August.

Earlier, Essel Group-owned DTH company Dish TV had appointed Anil Dua as the group CEO. Following the amalgamation of Videocon d2h with Dish TV, Dua would head the combined entity of Dish TV Videocon. Dish TV CEO Arun Kapoor had resigned to pursue his passion of teaching MBA students and venture into social work.

Sethi has over 22 years of experience in varied industries like media, insurance and automotive across India and Southeast Asia. He joined Ten Sports (Taj Television, then a subsidiary of Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd) in July 2013 as CEO, where he spearheaded the turnaround and divestment of Ten Sports from multi-year losses to a profitable entity.

Sethi, wearing another hat, has also placed ZEEL’s distribution and placement business on a consistent growth path.

Before joining ZEEL, he was associated with large conglomerates like Tata, General Electric and Allianz. He has a proven track record of progressive leadership and entrepreneurial success, and specialises in enhancing stakeholder value through large-scale business transformation, leadership development, innovation, organisation change management and customer strategies.

Sethi has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and received his executive education from Harvard Business School, Kellogg School of Management and INSEAD. He is also a GE-certified Quality Green Belt.

He was honoured with prestigious awards like ‘Rashtriya Udyog Ratna’ by N.E.H.R.D.O. and ‘Global Indian Achievers Award for Business Excellence 2012’ by Economic Development Forum.

Commenting on his new role, Sethi said, “Following our very successful turnaround and divestment of Ten Sports and thereafter implementation of digitisation of our broadcasting business, I am very excited to further transform our delivery platform with Siti Networks, which has immense growth possibilities and opportunities. The sector is on the cusp of reinventing itself with smarter business models and ways of delivering and connecting to customers with varied products and services.”

With 15 digital head-ends and a network of more than 32,500 km of optical fibre and coaxial cable, Siti provides its cable services in India’s ~580 locations and adjoining areas, reaching out to over 13.2 million viewers.
