&pictures to premiere ‘Udta Punjab’ on 30 April
MUMBAI: Hindi movie channel &pictures is all set to premiere Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Udta Punjab’ on 30 April at 12 noon.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the film marked the entry of popular Punjabi heart throb Diljit Dosanjh in Hindi Cinema whose stellar performance was another highlight of the film.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, Udta Punjab was leaked online on torrent website allzmovies.in before its release leading to a huge financial loss to its producers.
The owner of the site was later arrested by the Mumbai police. ‘Great Grand Masti’ was also leaked online three weeks before its release on 22 July prompting the producers to prepone the release to 15 July.
The piracy of two movies had resulted in an approximate loss of Rs 360 million to the company. Balaji had earned revenue of approximately Rs 18.61 crore (Rs 186.1 million) for satellite, digital and other rights of ‘Azhar’ and ‘Udta Punjab’.

Dr Preet Sahni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is working tirelessly to make Punjab a drug-free state and her character stands out as a ray of hope who runs a rehab centre for youngsters. Alia Bhatt is a migrant labourer and a field worker who gets involved in the on-going menace. She is a fighter finding a way out of the storm.
