New Bond movie ‘Spectre’ makes over $500 mn at global box office

MUMBAI: The new James Bond movie ‘Spectre’ has made over $500 million at the global box office. It earned $188 million over the weekend.

Fox takes the next three weekend places. According to Rentrak ,the Salman Khan starrer ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ made $33.4 million over the weekend globally and is in second place for the weekend. In the US it has made $2.4 million and is in eight spot.

Another Fox film ‘The Peanuts Movie’ made $26.7 million globally over the weekend. It is expected to comfortably cross $100 million. ‘The Martian’ continues its strong run for the Murdoch owned company with $12 million over the weekend. This film is nearing the half a billion dollar mark globally. Sony’s ‘Goosebumps’ has crossed the $100 million mark since its release.

Rentrak senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, “An amazing continued run for Sony’s ‘Spectre’ at the global box office is realised with $188 million in 92 territories including North America where the 24th Bond film was number one for the second consecutive weekend. An astounding $48 million in China this weekend gives this Bond the biggest opening weekend (F-S-S) of all time for a 2D U.S. film in this all-important marketplace.”
