Live Viacom18 turns ‘Emerge’ into day-long festival

MUMBAI: Upping the ante of its live properties, Live Viacom18, a division of Integrated Network Solutions (INS), is turning its popular underground property ‘Emerge’ into a day-long music and art festival format.

To be presented by Vivo Smart Phone, ‘Emerge’ will comprise installations, live art events, sculptures and more.

jaideep-singh-viacom18-insViacom18 Pvt Ltd INS SVP and business head Jaideep Singh said, “We recognise the expanding musicscape for the Indian youth and want to be at the forefront of bringing the freshest sounds from around the world to them. ‘Emerge’ began as an experiment in 2013 and aspires to blend music and art, two of the most creative forms of expression. The response has been exceptional and I’m confident that with the launch of this festival, we will enhance the impact of this platform and help realize its true potential.”

Put together by Live Viacom18, in association with Vh1 India, the fest will be held in Delhi and Bangalore. Artists who will perform include Grammy-nominated Alt-J, BRIT Award winners Rudimental (DJ set) and virtuoso hang-drum player Daniel Waples featuring The Petebox. Home-grown talent like New Delhi’s Advaita and Bangalore’s rock-outfit Parvaaz will also be part of the festivities.

Aiming to be a music and arts discovery platform, Emerge will kick off in Bangalore on 28 February, followed by Delhi on 1 March. To keep the pollution levels under check and the city’s traffic under control, the organisers are encouraging visitors to pedal it to the concert for which a surprise offer will be announced soon.

Since its inception in 2013, Emerge has brought to India a host of international talent like Jeremy Loops (SA), Dinner and a Suit (USA), Engine-Earz (UK) featuring Asa (UK), Foreign Beggars (UK), DJ Dismantle (UK), Go Go Berlin (GER), The Virginmarys (UK) and more recently, These Reigning Days (UK).

After witnessing success with MTV Bollyland, Nickelodean Kids Choice Awards and Vh1 Supersonic, Live Viacom18 is all set to further expand its activities in the entertainment sphere, reaching new audiences and the youth.
