ETC unveils 5th edition of Bollywood Business Awards

MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s (ZEEL) Bollywood trade and music channel ETC has unveiled the fifth edition of its Bollywood Business Awards, honouring the box-office toppers of 2014.

Identifying and honouring winners purely based on their box-office success, the awards since 2010 have claim to stand for an unbiased and commercial success-oriented metric system without the involvement of a jury. The awards ceremony will air on the channel on 24 January at 8:30 pm.

ZEEL EVP and business head Anurag Bedi said, “ZETC Awards is another commitment delivered towards recognising some of the most talented personalities of the industry. ZEEL is proud to have had a great success ratio with these hallmark awards since launch. Currently in its fifth year, the ZETC Awards aims to bring to the Indian TV viewer a power-packed evening that brings together industry bigwigs under one roof.”

The parameters for the awards include economic quotient as a cornerstone for mapping the success of a movie, recognising marketers, distributors, production houses and exhibitors who are equally responsible for the success of a film, along with actors and directors. The winner is judged solely on the basis of business garnered.

Speaking about his longstanding association with the awards, ETC Bollywood Business Awards 2014 host Komal Nahta said, “Our single-focused attempt at recognising money-spinners of the Hindi film industry continues to remain. We take pride in being the only award function that honours box-office numbers purely based on factual figures. I’m looking forward to delivering another ceremony duly recognising efforts of our talented film-makers.”

Category innovations include best marketed film of the year, most profitable film/director/producer, box-office surprise of the year, highest single day collection of the year and more.

The channel has designed a viewer engagement plan, keeping the digitally active audience in mind. In order to increase dialogue with the global fan base, in 2015 the awards committee will focus on taking the concept closer to the viewer innovatively.

Social media platforms will witness Facebook contests, posts, tweets and e-mailers. Various social media activations will keep fans updated on the awards night while they will also stand a chance to win exclusive merchandise from ZEEL through various contests.
