Essel Vision forays into daily fiction with ‘Tashan-e-Ishq’
MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s (ZEEL) content engine Essel Vision has forayed into daily fiction content by launching a prime time drama for Zee TV.
Titled ‘Tashan-e-Ishq’, the show will launch on 10 August. It will replace the channel’s magnum opus ‘Jodha Akbar’ in the time slot of 8 pm, from Monday to Friday.
‘Tashan-e-Ishq’ presents the story of love in the midst of business rivalry. The lead protagonist is Twinkle, a typically adorable Punjabi kudi and drama queen.
Her love story is set against the backdrop of upscale, upwardly mobile Punjab where, at times, business rivalries and games of one-upmanship colour the personal equations between entrepreneurs and industrialists.
Zee TV business head Pradeep Hejmadi said, “Tashn-e-Ishq replaces one of our most cherished marquee properties, the historical magnum opus Jodha Akbar. So you can well imagine the faith we repose in the new show. With its unique setting, apt casting and the premise of a young woman gradually maturing in terms of her understanding of true love, the show will be quite different from the content we currently have on air. It has all the elements needed for a complete dose of entertainment. It is the kind of concept that will go a long way in attracting newer audiences as its appeal cuts across metro as well as small town sensibilities as well as the youth.”
Essaying the roles of the two warring mothers Leela and Anita are veteran actors Vaishanvi Mcdonald and Eva Grover.
Essel Vision Productions business head Akash Chawla said, “Following our consistent success in the non-fiction genre with shows like ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs’, ‘DID Super Moms’ and now DID Season 5, we now plan to march into the weekday fiction space with ‘Tashn-e-Ishq’. It is one of our most ambitious projects and aims to set a benchmark in the fiction genre. We have on board an ensemble of some extremely impressive actors and a few promising fresh faces who beautifully fit the parts they play. So, it sure looks like we have a winner on our hands.”
Fresh, young faces Jasmine Bhasin and Zain Imam have been cast for the roles of the love birds Twinkle and Yuvraj, while actor Siddhant Gupta plays the role of Kunj, a happy -go-lucky young man. The show also has star actors Bina Banerjee as Preeto Ji, Ashwin Kaushal as Raman Taneja, Rishina Kandhari as Nicky Sarna, Deepika Amin as Usha Sarna and Ram Sethi as Twinkle’s dada ji.
The theme soundtrack of the show is produced by Zee Music and the renowned music composer Lalit Pandit, known for his romantic melodies, has composed the music pieces.
