Comic Con India to celebrate pop culture in Mumbai next month

MUMBAI: Comic Con India plans to celebrate all things pop culture with its biggest pop culture event of the year, Mumbai Film and Comics Convention.

The convention will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre just before Christmas from 19 to 21 December from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The event will feature content from international pop culture brands in gaming, TV shows and movies. There will be over 50 hours of programming through panels, launches, gaming, video hangouts and more.

International personalities taking special sessions at the convention include Nick Spencer, a New York Times-bestselling comics writer, best known for his ‘Morning Glories’, ‘Bedlam’, and ‘The Infinite Vacation’, as well as his work at Marvel and DC Comics; Nicolas Wild, a wandering French writer and illustrator. Then there is Dan Goldman who crafts transmedia experiences for such companies as AMC Television, Wired, Random House, IDW Publishing, Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly and New York Magazine.

Comic Con India founder Jatin Varma said, “Mumbai has always set benchmarks for all our shows and last year was amazing! Building upon that we are bringing over an even bigger show with a 50,000 sq feet show floor, over a 100 exhibitors, a super guest line-up and tons more!”

The Mumbai Film and Comics Convention will be a ticketed event now onwards to further expand the scope and size of the event. For MFCC 2014, tickets will be available online via Book My Show as well as at the venue. Only a limited number of VIP tickets will be issued. The tickets would be priced at Rs 150 online and Rs 200 at the venue on Friday; Rs 250 online and Rs 300 at the venue on Saturday and Sunday; and Rs 500 for the Super Fan VIP ticket for all three days.

Super Fan ticket offer is available in limited numbers and can be booked online only; these will not be available at the venue. Cosplay (Costume Contest), one of the major attractions at Comic Con India, will continue to give assured prizes to everyone in costume.

More than 10 new titles will be launched at the convention. There will be some Awesome Anime and Manga Merch from Japanese merchandiser IINE Toys, along with exclusive international merchandise from across the globe.

International publishers and merchandisers such as Marvel Comics and KidRobot Toys will be available exclusively at the Comic Con India Store.
