BBC Worldwide brings three new Factual Entertainment titles to Mipcom
MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide will be launching three new factual entertainment titles, ‘Motorheads’, ‘Million Dollar Car Hunters’ and ‘Ice Town: Life on the Edge’ at the television trade event Mipcom 2016 that takes place later this month in Cannes, France.
‘Motorheads’ presenters Tom Ford and Jonny Smith will both be in attendance at the market to give buyers a sneak peek of the 10 part series celebrating a mash up of motoring and pop culture. Wendy Rattray, executive producer of Ice Town: Life on the Edge and Simon Everson and Jon-Barrie Waddell, the producers of Million Dollar Car Hunters, will also be present at the event.
BBC Worldwide head of factual entertainment lifestyle Andrea Olsson said, “When done well, factual entertainment has the power to inspire, entertain and enlighten. This market, BBC Worldwide is proud to allow viewers a rare glimpse of otherwise hard to access worlds in ‘Ice Town’ and ‘Million Dollar Car Hunter’, offering an edge of the seat sense of adventure and escapism and we’re thrilled to bring back by popular demand the very entertaining partnership of Jonny and Wookie in ‘Motorheads’.”
‘Motorheads’ pulls together, all in one place, footage of stunts, feats of mechanical mayhem or shocking driving fails. Tom and Jonny are also inspired to create their own car-based craziness, pitting their driving prowess against some of the most outrageous motoring feats on the web and inviting some of the most popular online motoring stars into the studios to test their skills.
‘Ice Town: Life on the Edge’ promises story-lines to rival fiction in another character-led series set in the world’s most northerly town – Svalbard. Situated midway between Norway and the North Pole, Svalbard is home to unique expat community of over 40 nationalities and ‘Ice Town’ follows the lives of some of the characters who have made this place their home.
‘Million Dollar Car Hunters’ has exclusive access to RM Sotheby’s – the world’s biggest classic car auctioneers – as it follows their experts drawing on detective skills and networking prowess, to unearth iconic, classic and unique cars for their wealthy clients. The series captures all the excitement of the detective trail, as well as the nail-biting tension of the auction itself. Will they get to the car first ahead of rival auction houses? Will the super-rich turn up to bid?
