Videocon d2h has seen net subscriber growth on a QoQ basis despite moderation due to demonetisation of high-value currency notes while remaining profitable at the net level in Q3.

With a large chunk of its subscribers coming from smaller cities, the demonetisation of high-value currency notes by the government impacted Dish TV’s Q3 performance as net subscriber additions and ARPU fell QoQ.

Demonetisation has impacted Airtel Digital TV. Q3 has seen slowest subs addition in last five quarters. EBITDA is flat at Rs 302.6 cr compared to Rs 303 cr in Q2.

Airtel Digital TV’s ARPU dropped to Rs 232 during the quarter compared to Rs 233 in the trailing quarter. It added 256,000 net customers in Q2 of FY17. This has been the highest subscriber addition by the company during the second quarter in the last 17 quarters or almost four years.

Videocon d2h is eyeing full-fiscal profitability at the net level in 2016–17 and has also guided for free cash flow breakeven. It expects to achieve a gross subscriber addition of at least 2.5 mn for the entire fiscal.

Dish TV reported strong subscriber additions in Q1 and content cost increased below double-digit but ARPU stayed flat. The DTH operator added 402,000 net subscribers in Q1, taking its net subscriber base to 14.9 mn.

Airtel Digital TV has reported its highest fiscal Q1 net subscriber additions in the past four years. EBITDA has grown 9.49% QoQ to Rs 301.1 crore. ARPU is up 1.7% from the trailing quarter.

Videocon d2h has turned profitable at the net level for the first time. After Dish TV, it is the second Indian DTH company to be PAT positive.

Videocon d2h narrows Q4 net loss to Rs 21.2 crore from Rs 75.7 crore in the prior-year quarter. Content cost falls to 37.5% of revenue. Total net subscriber base stands at 11.86 million.
