For the second quarter in a row, Hathway’s broadband revenue has stayed ahead of its cable TV subscription income. Placement revenue jumped 8% QoQ to Rs 70.4 cr. Pay channel cost remained flat at Rs 104.3 cr.

Videocon d2h has seen net subscriber growth on a QoQ basis despite moderation due to demonetisation of high-value currency notes while remaining profitable at the net level in Q3.

With a large chunk of its subscribers coming from smaller cities, the demonetisation of high-value currency notes by the government impacted Dish TV’s Q3 performance as net subscriber additions and ARPU fell QoQ.

Demonetisation has impacted Airtel Digital TV. Q3 has seen slowest subs addition in last five quarters. EBITDA is flat at Rs 302.6 cr compared to Rs 303 cr in Q2.

DEN Networks continued to improve its net realisation from cable TV subscription billing in Q3, operating profit from cable TV saw strong growth and broadband biz achieved break-even for the full quarter.

Airtel Digital TV’s ARPU dropped to Rs 232 during the quarter compared to Rs 233 in the trailing quarter. It added 256,000 net customers in Q2 of FY17. This has been the highest subscriber addition by the company during the second quarter in the last 17 quarters or almost four years.

Ortel’s revenue from carriage drops 9% QoQ. Content cost also falls 13.3%. Total subscriber base grows to 804,889.

Hathway Cable & Datacom made strong progress in broadband revenue in FY16 while its cable TV biz was impacted by delay in the implementation of DAS in Phase III and continued challenges in driving up subscription revenue shares from LCOs. Led by STB seeding in Phase III and broadband investment, capex was higher at Rs 11 bn in FY16 versus Rs 4.4 billion a year ago.

Videocon d2h is eyeing full-fiscal profitability at the net level in 2016–17 and has also guided for free cash flow breakeven. It expects to achieve a gross subscriber addition of at least 2.5 mn for the entire fiscal.

Ortel’s Q1 net profit fell 68.9% to Rs 9 mn compared to Rs 2.8 crore in the preceding quarter. EBITDA excluding other income dipped 20.9% to Rs 13.4 crore.
