Hathway launches E-KYC process in line with TRAI directive
MUMBAI: Hathway Cable & Datacom, India’s leading MSO and high-speed broadband service provider, has launched yet another industry-first initiative by introducing electronic know your customer (E-KYC) facility that will further strengthen and create efficiency in the KYC process.
In a recent directive, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had officially recognised E-KYC as a key enabler of digital technology to bring in efficiency in managing services to subscribers.
The launch of E-KYC duly fulfils regulatory compliance regarding completion of customer requisition form (CRF) in a digitised format. The E-KYC feature will be available on ‘Hathway Connect’ for LCOs to manage their customer base.
At present, LCOs maintain a huge chunk of paper forms, which is a tedious and complex process. With the E-KYC, the entire distribution chain including the LCO will be able to store millions of forms at a lesser operational cost, thus simplifying their daily business and improving customer relationship. This digital technology is also aimed at upgrading LCO partners and helping them align with the current trends and service consumers effectively, Hathway said.
The E-KYC feature enables updating of customer details, including proof of identity (POI), proof of address (POA) and customer’s digital photograph using a dedicated app while also activating the customer’s set-top-box in almost real time. The detailed process flow includes authenticating customers through their digital signature on smartphone or via an OTP generated on the registered mobile number, which is followed by the CRF being generated. The same will be circulated to the customer in person and stored digitally, which can be easily accessed by the LCO as well.
This environmentally friendly initiative eliminates the need to print large number of paper forms in keeping with the ever-increasing digital cable subscriber universe. Hathway recently launched a breakthrough initiative with the launch of LCO portal ‘Hathway Connect’, which is meant to redefine and transform business dynamics and strengthen the role of the LCO in the distribution chain.
Commenting on the E-KYC initiative, Hathway Cable & Datacom president of video business TS Panesar stated, “Over the past year, Hathway has taken some defining steps in transforming the way the cable industry operates and with the launch of the E-KYC process, we truly comply with TRAI’s directive in easing out customer experience, which will prove to be an important stepping stone. It also coincides with ‘Hathway Connect’, our online portal for LCOs that will overall help our LCO partners and make their business operations more convenient. By upgrading the LCOs with E-KYC, our endeavour is to give our consumers a world-class and seamless experience.”
