MIB has told HC of Punjab & Haryana that it is not going to press for STB installation till the matter is pending in various HCs. Under Secretary to Govt of India Anil Kumar has said that “as per legal opinion on the Bombay HC’s order, the stay granted by HC of AP & Telangana is valid across the country”.

In a twist of fate, the MIB has granted permanent MSO licence to Eminent Cable Network. The MHA had earlier denied security clearance to the MSO. With this addition, the total number of permanent registrations in the country now stands at 231.

Two-month stay on implementation of DAS Phase III will not be extended further, Chhattisgarh High Court said. The Union govt will be at a liberty to proceed in accordance with law following the expiry of the two-month period.

With multiple high courts staying the implementation of DAS Phase III, the MIB has decided to take the matter to the SC. MIB will be filing the petition in the apex court to club the orders from different high courts, MIB secretary Sunil Arora told TelevisionPost.com.

Even as MIB claimed that 86.25% of TV households have been digitised in DAS Phase III excluding TN, its own report reveals 685 areas with zero seeding until 30 Dec. Out of this, 450 areas have fewer than 1,000 TV households and 226 from 1,000 to 5,000 TV households. 280 areas are in WB and are to be deleted from Phase III list as per the comments of the state government.

The number of TV households covered under DAS Phase III in West Bengal has almost halved to 10,55,469 from 20,01,845 in the original list, as per the new updated MIB list.

The High Court of Sikkim has granted a 12-week stay on the implementation of DAS Phase III in Sikkim and ordered the MIB to maintain status quo. The matter has been listed for hearing on 28 March 2016.
