For the second quarter in a row, Hathway’s broadband revenue has stayed ahead of its cable TV subscription income. Placement revenue jumped 8% QoQ to Rs 70.4 cr. Pay channel cost remained flat at Rs 104.3 cr.

DEN Networks continued to improve its net realisation from cable TV subscription billing in Q3, operating profit from cable TV saw strong growth and broadband biz achieved break-even for the full quarter.

Hathway Cable & Datacom made strong progress in broadband revenue in FY16 while its cable TV biz was impacted by delay in the implementation of DAS in Phase III and continued challenges in driving up subscription revenue shares from LCOs. Led by STB seeding in Phase III and broadband investment, capex was higher at Rs 11 bn in FY16 versus Rs 4.4 billion a year ago.

Ortel’s Q1 net profit fell 68.9% to Rs 9 mn compared to Rs 2.8 crore in the preceding quarter. EBITDA excluding other income dipped 20.9% to Rs 13.4 crore.

Carriage revenue fell 4% while content cost grew just 1%. Broadband revenue saw significant growth in the fiscal.

Siti Cable has turned profitable at the net level for the full fiscal for the first time in its history. It has also reported the highest number of digital customer acquisitions in a year and its footprint is the largest in the country.

DEN’s carriage rev in Q2 fell 6% to Rs 115 cr, from Rs 118 cr in prior quarter. This was due to lower placement fee received from a broadcaster. The other indicators examined are ARPU, content cost, STBs seeded, rev from cable biz and broadband.

Odisha’s dominant MSO Ortel has posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 2.8 crore for the quarter ended 30 September; carriage fee has seen 23.8 per cent increase QoQ.
