A PIL has been filed in Madras HC to restrain Arasu Cable from procuring STBs and then providing them to its subscribers for free, until it gets a permanent licence from the MIB.

Subscription rev was up 6% QoQ to Rs 170 cr. Carriage rev fell 4.1% QoQ to Rs 77 cr. Activation rev grew 75.2% to Rs 84.9 cr.

Out of total revenue of Rs 236.5 cr in Q1, Hathway Digital’s placement income was Rs 70.2 cr. Subscription rev was Rs 132.5 cr. Pay channel cost was Rs 135.2 cr. Hathway Cable & Datacom’s subscription rev from broadband was Rs 129 cr. Broadband ARPU fell QoQ to Rs 730.

GTPL Hathway’s placement revenue was up 2% QoQ to Rs 57.8 cr. Pay channel cost was down 2%. Total STB seeding climbed to 7.76 mn. Active subscribers were at 6.69 mn.

MIB issues licences to 34 MSOs between 13 June and 31 July. It also cancels 15 applications, mainly due to applicants’ failure to submit missing documents. Total MSO licences stand at 1,455.
